Nation's Building News on new housing starts for the month of May, 2008.
Largely offsetting the gain recorded in April, sales of newly built, single-family homes fell 2.5% in May to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 512,000 units, the Commerce Department reported last week.

Regionally, sales were down 7.9% in the Northeast and 11.6% in the West in May, 2008. Sales gained 5.1% in the Midwest and rose a marginal 0.4% in the South. Read more. Read more...
